What Problem Are We Solving?
Phlebotomists (phlebos) have a busy job. But sometimes, the cash collected from patients doesn’t match what was actually billed. This can cause:
Missing or untracked payments
Incorrect cash records
Confusion for patients
This affects both the lab's finances and patient trust.
What’s the Solution?
We’re introducing OTP (One-Time Password) Verification before sample collection with payment details
Key Rule: No OTP = No Sample Collection
This ensures the phlebo collects the right amount, and the patient knows exactly what they’re paying for.
How to Enable This Feature?
Go to:
Registration → Home Collection → Home Collection Setting → Enable 'OTP Verification before Sample Collection'
How Does It Work?
1. OTP is Sent to Patient
When a phlebo clicks on Collect Sample, they trigger the OTP. The OTP is sent to the patient via SMS, email, and WhatsApp. It includes the amount details and the OTP.
2. OTP is Required to Proceed
The phlebo must enter the correct OTP in the app to collect the sample.
3. No OTP = No Sample Collection
If there is no OTP, the collection cannot proceed.
4. Mismatched Amount? Patient is in Control
If the amount in the OTP message doesn’t match what the phlebo is saying, the patient can contact the lab for confirmation. This prevents confusion or incorrect collections.
5. OTP Valid for One Visit
Once the OTP is verified for a visit, it won’t be asked again for that same visit.
What If the Patient Doesn’t Have an Email or Mobile Number?
You can temporarily disable OTP verification:
Go to Home Collection Settings
Turn off the OTP Verification toggle
Ask the phlebo to log out and log back in
They can now collect the sample without OTP
Real-World Example
Ravi books a home collection. He gets a message:
“Hi Ravi, your payment status is ₹500 – Due. Your OTP is 9146.”
When the phlebo arrives, they say:
“Your payment due is ₹700.”
But Ravi sees ₹500 in the message. He doesn’t share the OTP and contacts the lab to clarify.
This helps prevent mistakes and keeps everything transparent for the patient.
