This article explains how to select the preferred %CV calculation method (actual SD or expected SD) in the QC Settings page, including where to find the option and how it affects reports and LJ charts.
Who should use this:
Lab admins who want to switch between calculated and expected SD for %CV
Support team members assisting customers with this change
Step 1. Access QC Settings
Login to the application and go to QC Settings.
You’ll find this option in the left-side menu under the QC module.
Step 2. Find the “How should we calculate CV in reports?” section
Scroll down to the CV Calculation Method section.
This section has two card-style options to choose from.
Step 3. Select your preferred calculation method
Use actual SD (based on lab results):
The system will calculate the SD from your QC data and use it to compute %CV.
Formula: %CV = (Standard Deviation / Mean) × 100
This is the default for all labs.
Use expected SD (from kit or manual entry):
The system will use the SD value you’ve entered or the one provided in the QC kit.
Formula: %CV = (Expected SD / Mean) × 100
Step 4. Save your settings
After selecting the desired option, click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
Step 5. Impact of this change
This setting affects all %CV values shown in QC summary tables, LJ charts, and any other place %CV is displayed.
The setting is lab-specific and only affects your lab’s reports.
Notes:
If you don’t change this setting, your lab will continue using the default calculation (actual SD).
You can switch between options at any time.
