The Clinical Notes for Toxicology Specimen Validity preset formula helps automatically generate clinical notes based on flagged specimen integrity parameters. Here’s a step-by-step guide to use it:

Steps to Use the Preset Formula

    1.    Locate the Preset Formula:

    •    Go to Add/Edit Report in the application.

    •    Navigate to Parameter SettingAdd/Edit Calculations.

    •    Select the preset formula “Clinical Notes for Toxicology Specimen Validity” from the list.

    2.    Map Parameters:

    •    Map the required parameters for the formula to work:

    •    Creatinine

    •    pH

    •    Specific Gravity

    •    General Oxidant

    •    Ensure these parameters are part of your test configuration.

    3.    Apply the Formula:

    •    Once the parameters are mapped, apply the formula to the relevant test panel.

    •    The formula will automatically detect flagged results for each parameter.

    4.    Review Generated Clinical Notes:

    •    The formula generates specific comments based on flagged parameters:

    •    Creatinine (Abnormally Low): “Creatinine was ABNORMALLY LOW in this sample, suggesting it may have been diluted or otherwise constructed.”

    •    pH (Abnormal): “pH was ABNORMAL in this sample. Does the patient have a medical condition that could account for this? If not, tampering must be considered.”

    •    Specific Gravity (Abnormal): “Specific Gravity was ABNORMAL in this sample. Does the patient have a medical condition that could account for this? If not, tampering must be considered.”

    •    General Oxidant (Detected): “GENERAL OXIDANTS were detected in this sample. Oxidants are known masking agents that can be used to deceive Toxicology measures.”

    •    If multiple parameters are flagged, the corresponding comments will appear in sequence: Creatinine → pH → Specific Gravity → General Oxidant.

    5.    Save the Report:

    •    Review the clinical notes in the generated report before finalizing.

Key Points to Remember:

    •    The preset formula is available under Add/Edit Calculations in the parameter settings.

    •    Mapping the correct parameters is necessary for the formula to function properly.

    •    Clinical notes are generated automatically when any parameter is flagged.
