Feature Overview: 

We’ve introduced the Machine-Triggered Rerun as part of the sample rerun functionality. This feature ensures that results sent by machines are accurate, especially for values that seem absurd or fall within critical ranges. By confirming these rerun values before finalizing reports, labs can maintain high accuracy and reliability in their test results.

Why Is It Needed?

Sample reruns are essential in scenarios where:

  • Machine-sent values are abnormal or in a critical range.
  • Results need to be re-verified to confirm their accuracy before approving a report.
    This feature minimizes errors and ensures that critical results are validated.

How It Works?

To use the machine-triggered rerun functionality:

  1. Enable the Setting:
    Add "machine_triggered_rerun": true in the device settings.

  2. Identify Rerun Samples:

    • The system detects rerun scenarios when the machine sends new values for a sample, either based on the processing time or if different values are sent for the same parameter.

  3. Confirm Rerun Values:

    • When rerun values are available for a report, users must confirm or cancel the rerun. Until then, saving the report is restricted.

  4. Select Final Values:

    • Choose the final result for each parameter and confirm it.

  5. Finalize and Approve:

    • Confirmed values are reflected in the report, which can then be saved, approved, and submitted as usual.

Example Scenario: Thyroid Panel Test

Imagine a scenario where a thyroid panel test returns a TSH value of 25 µIU/mL, which falls in the critical range. The machine is triggered to rerun the sample.

  • The machine sends new TSH values (e.g., 2.5 µIU/mL).
  • Users review the rerun value in the system and confirm it as the final result.
  • The confirmed value is reflected in the report, ensuring accurate reporting before approval.

This is just the beginning of the sample rerun process! Auto and manual rerun functionalities will be released in the next update.

Note: There is no separate flag to enable this feature. Simply add the device setting to start using it.
