You can now upload multiple different types of documents for a single patient directly during patient registration. These documents include:
• Test Requisition Form (TRF)
• Insurance Card
• Driving License
Each of these can be uploaded individually within the same patient registration form.
Who Can Use This?
This feature is for:
• Labs and collection centers manually registering patients
• Front-desk staff capturing patient identity, insurance, and test-related documents
• Support teams helping clients with document processing and OCR issues
Why It Matters
Previously, users could upload only one document per patient. This update allows attaching all relevant patient documents in one go, which:
• Saves time
• Improves accuracy with automatic data extraction
• Reduces back-and-forth for missing information
• Makes registration more complete and efficient
How It Works
Document Upload Flow
1. Start Patient Registration
Go to the patient registration screen
2. Upload Documents
You will see separate sections to upload:
• TRF
• Insurance Card
• Driving License
All uploads are optional but recommended.
3. OCR and Data Extraction
Once a document is uploaded:
• The system detects the type (based on upload section)
• OCR extracts key fields like Name, DOB, ID number, etc.
• Data is auto-filled in the patient form wherever matched
4. Validation
If any key data is missing, you’ll see a prompt to manually complete it.
5. Final Submission
Review extracted data → Edit if needed → Submit patient registration
⚙️ Supported File Types and Rules
• File formats: PDF, JPG, PNG
• Max file size: [Configurable, default 5MB]
• Uploading the wrong document type in a section (e.g., driving license in TRF slot) will trigger an error
• OCR fallback available: if extraction fails, user can manually fill data
Error Handling
• Duplicate documents will be flagged
• File type or size mismatch will show alerts
• Users can delete and re-upload before final submission
Coming Soon
• Bulk patient upload with multiple documents
• Custom template support for labs with different document formats
For Support Teams
When resolving tickets related to this feature, ask users:
• Which document type was uploaded?
• Was the correct section used?
• Did OCR extract the data correctly or did it fail?
• Are they seeing validation errors?
