What This Feature Does
Sometimes, when a patient is registered, the referral (doctor or clinic) or the organisation (hospital, company, etc.) is entered incorrectly. When the phlebotomist visits the patient and speaks to them or their family, they may realize that the referral or organisation is different from what was originally selected.
This feature allows phlebotomists to update the referral or organisation directly from the app during the visit.
When and Where You Can Use This
This option is available on the Phlebo App
Click on the edit button and you’ll find a option called “Edit Referral & Organisation” on the bottom sheet
Tap this option to open a new screen where you can select a different referral or organisation
What Happens When You Make a Change
Once you choose a different referral or organisation, a message will appear asking what you want to do with the already added tests.
Here are the available options:

Organisation | Apply Price List | Keeps the same tests but updates their prices based on the new organisation’s price list. |
Referral | Referral Change Only | Only the referral is changed. The price list is not considered or changed. |
What the App Automatically Checks
When you make a change, the app automatically applies rules to make sure everything is valid:
It checks the credit limit of the new organisation (especially if it's postpaid or flexi-prepaid).
It ensures that billing type changes (walk-in → prepaid/postpaid, etc.) are allowed if if unpaid and other such cases.
If there are any billing restrictions (like unpaid dues or exceeded credit), the app will show an error message.
It also ensures that pricing is updated correctly based on your choice.
What Happens in the Backend
Here’s a simple overview of how the bill is adjusted when you change the organisation:

Common Questions
1. Why do I see an error after changing the organisation?
The new organisation might not have enough balance or credit.
The bill might already be partially or fully paid (changes are not allowed in such cases).
2. Can I change only the referral?
Yes. If you change just the referral from the phlebotomist app from teh edit org and referral screen, the pricing will stay the same, and no price list from the referral will be applied.
